Heavy-Duty Mechanic - Ladysmith Sawmill Operation

Are you a certified trades person looking to join a “best in class” maintenance team? Our company is hiring Heavy Duty Mechanics for our Ladysmith Sawmill Operation in Ladysmith, BC! 

What We Offer:

• Unionized position with a starting wage of $46.76/hour
• Hourly premiums of $0.60/hour on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift

Shifts: Monday - Friday

This position is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate and follow applicable health and safety program and policies
• Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical on mobile fleet
• Work with dealers/vendors on maintaining inventory on critical components of equipment
• Perform minor welding repairs on equipment
• Ensure equipment repair log books are up to date and accurate
• Maintain a organized and clean shop
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience 

• Must be fully ticketed Red Seal HD Mechanic
• Valid BC driver's license and ability to provide a driver's abstract.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

• Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast sawmill equipment (forklifts, boom boats, skid steers and log Loaders)
• Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills an asset
• Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent safety record
• Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills
• Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement
• Accountable and dependable
