Heavy-Duty Mechanic - Ladysmith Sawmill Operation

What We Offer:
- Unionized position with a starting wage of $46.76/hour
- Hourly premiums of $0.60/hour on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift

Shifts: Monday - Friday
This position is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate and follow applicable health and safety program and policies
- Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical on mobile fleet
- Work with dealers/vendors on maintaining inventory on critical components of equipment
- Perform minor welding repairs on equipment
- Ensure equipment repair log books are up to date and accurate
- Maintain a organized and clean shop
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Must be fully ticketed Red Seal HD Mechanic
- Valid BC driver's license and ability to provide a driver's abstract.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
- Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast sawmill equipment (forklifts, boom boats, skid steers and log Loaders)
- Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills an asset
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent safety record
- Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills
- Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement
